First Prize, Tam Yi Nam, 1B

My favourite teacher

My favourite teacher was my primary school English teacher.  She was Miss Lam.  She had taught me English for three years since I was in primary three.  She was not too tall, but she had a pair of big eyes and a tall nose.  She had a small mouth too!  Also, she was kind to everyone.

The first time I saw her, I was a little bit scared.  But after a few days, I loved her lessons.  And she always helped me after the lessons, then we became friends.  My first choral speaking competition was solo.  She taught me how to be brave on the stage, and how to recite a poem with sentiment.  Although I did not get into top three in the final, she let me know she was a good and responsible teacher when she was training me.

When I was in primary six, she helped me to tutor primary one pupils to learn a song called ‘Five Little Ducks.’  I enjoyed it and I was happy that primary one pupils could learn English through me.  In my primary six year, she was worried about our future studies.  She gave us a lot of suggestion too!

Now, she is pregnant, I wish her and her baby well.  Thanks and happy new year to my favourite teacher Miss Lam.

My favourite teacher

Who is my favourite teacher?  My favourite teacher is Miss Lee.  I met her in the primary school where I studied.  When I first saw her , I thought she was very clever but mean.

When I was in primary six, Miss Lee became my class teacher.  First, my classmates and I were very afraid of her.  But a few days later, we thought she was very kind and patient.

I think Miss Lee was very kind because she always had kind words for everyone.  She is also a patient person because when we were naughty, she did not shout at us.  She taught us patiently.  She taught us a lot of useful things, she taught us to be fair and being on time.  She makes me be interested in English, too.

I miss Miss Lee very much, I will never forget this class teacher.

Third Prize, Lee Yan Lui Eunice, 1B

My favourite teacher

My favourite teacher taught me English.  The first time I saw her, she looked very strict.  From that time onwards, I started hating her.  It was because she always yelled at us.  I knew the reason for yelling at us, I just did not like her.

I thought I was the best in English in class 1B, but I did not prove it.  I hardly studied for dictation and exams except for recitation, but I did not get the highest mark.  So I was upset.

She gave me a bad impression.  But after knowing her more, I knew what her words meant.  Whenever she said something to us loudly or sarcastically about our English level, she wanted us to improve.  Every time she told me that I had a poor grade and a lot of people were better than me, I would do my best to be the first in the class or even the greatest in the whole form in English.  I was very happy after getting the report because I really got the highest mark in the whole form.  I came first in English.  I was so proud of myself.

Now, I know why she was so strict to us in class.  Let me thank this teacher.

Thank you, Miss Li.
